Strong Faith Bible Verses

When faith feels thin, it helps to have a few verses you already know where to find. These are passages the Bible uses to describe faith, what it is, where it comes from and what it does, in the King James wording we usually read on a Sunday.

What faith actually is

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

Faith is not a feeling you manufacture. Hebrews calls it substance and evidence: something you stand on. The whole chapter is a roll call of ordinary people who trusted God before they could see the outcome (Hebrews 11).

Where faith comes from

• Romans 10:17 – “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
• Ephesians 2:8 – faith itself is a gift, not something you earn.
• 2 Corinthians 5:7 – “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

That first one is the practical key. If faith comes by hearing God’s word, then the way to more faith is more of His word, not more effort.

Faith when you are afraid or waiting

• Proverbs 3:5–6 – trust with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
• Isaiah 40:31 – they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.
• James 1:6 – ask in faith, nothing wavering.
• Mark 11:24 – believe that you receive when you pray.
• Matthew 17:20 – faith as a grain of mustard seed is enough to start.

How to actually use these

Pick one, not ten. Write it where you will see it, and say it back to God when the worry comes. Faith grows the way muscle does, by being used on something real.
