Who can we lean on when life gets hard? On Sunday, July 6, 2025, guest minister Donnie Carter came to Little Falls Chapel to lead a morning of worship in song and share a message from Psalm 27.

A morning of worship

The service opened with prayer and a few hymns from the congregation. Then Donnie thanked Pastor Linda Reese for having him and asked everyone to let go of the week’s worries, because God is present whether there are four people in the room or a thousand. He sang “As the Deer,” “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High,” “God Is Good,” “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” “Precious Lord, Take My Hand,” “Every Praise” and “Give Me Jesus,” and invited everyone to sing and clap along.

The Lord is my light

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 27:1 (KJV)

Donnie said God has carried him through many trials, and he has learned to pray, “God, have your way.” He knows God has His arms around him, and around every one of us. David’s one desire was “that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life” (Psalm 27:4). That’s our calling too: to trust Him and stay close to Him while we’re here.

A stepping stone on the way home

He shared a short poem that calls life a stepping stone, a pause before we make it home. God guides our steps along the way, but this world isn’t where we are meant to stay. He remembered his mother taking him to church every Sunday, even when he didn’t want to go, and how God was already at work in his life.

Don’t let worry run your life

Donnie admitted he has spent too much time worrying about things that hadn’t happened and might never happen. Worry steals our peace. His answer was simple: keep God first, give love, drop the attitudes, and smile, even at your enemies. If God is with you, who can stand against you?

Is there a worry about tomorrow you keep carrying? Hand it to God today, and look for one person you can show love to this week.

We’d love to have you with us on a Sunday morning. Worship is 10:00–11:00 AM, and the doors open at 9:30. Plan your visit.
