Ever feel like there’s nothing you can do for God? In this Sunday message from September 21, 2025, Pastor Linda Reese looked at the seventy followers Jesus sent ahead of Him in Luke 10, and at the one thing every believer can do.

Two by two, and praying for more

Jesus sent them out in pairs (Luke 10:1), for company, encouragement and safety. Then He said, “The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers” (10:2, KJV). If you think you can’t do anything for God, you can pray for more workers.

Travel light and trust God

He sent them “as lambs among wolves” with no purse or extra sandals (10:3-4). They had to trust God to provide. Pastor Linda shared how a local leader of Operation Christmas Child’s shoebox work put it: she doesn’t know where the money comes from, but God supplies. It’s the same, Pastor Linda said, with the bills at Little Falls Chapel.

When people say no

The disciples were to stay where they were welcomed, heal the sick, and say, “The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you” (10:9). Where they were rejected, they shook off the dust and moved on (10:10-11). Telling the good news is our responsibility; receiving it is the listener’s. When people reject the message, they’re rejecting Christ, not you.

The real reason to rejoice

The seventy came back thrilled that even demons obeyed them in Jesus’ name. Jesus answered, “Rejoice, because your names are written in heaven” (10:20). The power is always His. The most important question is whether your name is in the Book of Life.
